7.5 hours bus from Hat Yai to Chumphon

Reminded how bumpy the main roads are …

I arrived early at the Hat Yai main bus terminal. I took a tuk-tuk from the hotel to the station. First time for a long while, and no room to take any pictures of that. We arrived a longer way around .. and from an estimate at the hotel of 20bhat, we settled on 40. Usually when I arrive with my back pack I get quite a few folks coming up to me with suggestions on travel. All good .. and went to the ticket counter for Chumphon. I was early and had to wait 2.5 hours for the next bus. The alternative was a 14:30 train but that would have meant I arrived even later in the evening.

I have been to Thailand before. Been to Koh Samui for a holiday, and later went to Hua Hin to play golf with my mother and father. The latter trip from Bangkok was a bumpy ride in a mini-bus. This I guess was the same route but further south. It was a bumpy ride and I felt sorry for the folks at the back of the bus.

Trip went well with one stop for a short break. Although I was a bit worried that I would be a bit cramped with a very tired Thai gentleman next to me … who went straight to sleep … and amazingly kept sleeping when I moved his head back to the other side.
